About

PacNOG 5 is a continuation of the Pacific Islands Network Operators and Service Providers meeting and education workshop to discuss key IP Network operational issues and requirements and receive training.

Objectives

  • To provide a forum and venue for service providers in the Pacific Network community to meet and discuss current issues as well as receive technical training.
  • To build relationships among individual and institutional contacts in the Pacific region. A key outcome of the workshop will be the building of relationships with peers/colleagues in the region and among the instructors.
  • To develop a critical mass of professionals and trainers in network infrastructure and services to advance Internet propagation and enable greater access in the Pacific Islands.
  • To strengthen the technical expertise of network operators who need to design and manage larger networks as the demand for connectivity in the region increases.
  • To train people and organizations who will return home and teach others in their countries what they have learned at the PacNOG workshops.

      Everyday more than a Billion people rely on the Internet to conduct aspects of their daily life. Those who use the Internet and those of us who operate the networks need to be more aware of the risks. Mr. Crain will talk about some of the these risks.

    • Tutorial on DNSSEC
      While DNS is, perhaps, one of the most fundamental components of a healthy and safe Internet it is, also, vulnerable to a number of different types of attacks. DNSSEC is an update to the traditional DNS system. DNSSEC uses public-key cryptography to update the DNS trust model to ensure DNS responses to requests from clients.
